American Idol Final 12
Ok, who'd have thunk it? Chikeezie had the best performance of the night. He hasn't even been on my radar... I thought he was gone last week... and a couple of times before... but tonight... he blew my circuits... from bluegrass to a rock kind of "Outcast" feel. Great job!
Now, I have to tell you... the Lennon-McCartney song book... wow... In my opinion some of the best songs ever written. There will never be another songwriting duo like those guys. Having said that, I hate to hear people butcher Beatle's songs.
So who else did I like? David Cook surprised me again. When I heard he was going to sing Eleanor Rigby, I thought "Bad Choice, dude... not the right song for you." But I would have said the same last week about him doing Lionel Ritchie. I loved Brooke White again. Most of the others were merely ok for me... didn't really jump out. I had high hopes for Michael Johns and love the song "Across the Universe." But he just didn't make it great.
Horrendous is the only way I can describe David Hernandez, and the country girl... I can't even remember her name... She has a great voice for country... but what a lousy arrangement of 8 days a week. Isn't there advisors who can tell them... that's not a smart way to go? Most of these guys have trouble picking songs... and most have trouble arranging.
David Archuleta... the kids got star potential... but you don't make the top 12 and start forgeting lyrics. Not a good move.
My thoughts, send home Hernandez and the country girl... and then some Nashville producer should sign her quick... mentor her... and she could have a career.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I have it on DVR, but needed to get some rest. Sorry to hear that about Archuleta .. I like him. I like David Cook and the dude from Buckhead, too.
I wasn't nearly as impressed with Brooke as everyone else. Maybe because I'm a pianist, and she seemed INCREDIBLY awkward and uncomfortable behind the piano to me.
Oh well - I'm just glad I don't have to keep a barf bag next to my couch, now that Noriega is gone. I literally got sick to my stomach everytime they showed that poor guy. (guy?).

I agree! It sickens me too to see people butcher Beatles songs, in my opinion if your not one of The Beatles then don't do one of thier songs ; )

True... most can't do Beatles songs justice... they are probably the best songwriters of all times... but still I have heard some decent covers of Beatles songs... I think unless you can just knock it out of the park... don't even try... cuz there is nothing worse than a bad Beatles cover. Thanks for reading Tori...
