    Finally

At last, something has gone right this football season.  My Washington Redskins, (A team I have loved since I was a kid) beat the Cowboys (A team I have NOT loved since I was a kid)   Actually beat is a little weak...  A better word might be stomped.

I'm a happy camper... and the Redskins are in the playoffs...   Go Skins!

    Sunday Night Ramblings

**Scott spoke today at Coast... I heard he knocked it out of the park... It was his first time speaking at Coast, and it was his birthday... Way to step up Scott!

**Vicki, Leanna and I were in Destin at a friend's church, Destiny Worship Center.  God is really doing a lot at this church.  We really enjoyed the service, but good as it was, there is nothing like being at Coast.  We missed our service alot.  But it is also fun seeing how other people do things.  Great Job to Steve V. and his staff.

**It's probably a good thing the Kentucky Colonel is with Jesus... because he would be appalled at how bad his chain is run these days.  If it was up to me, we wouldn't ever eat there again... but Vick and Leanna like it... but even they admit... no matter which KFC we go into... its always the same... lackluster worker's and managers... and terrible service.  I'm not sure how the chain stays afloat.

**Customer service is a big thing with me... that's one of the things that we really work with our ministry teams on... we want to serve people.  (Side note... this is also why I no longer purchase anything from circuit city...)

**I am really looking forward to starting our new series, Heroes.  Next week we will be talking about Abraham and when God doesn't make sense.

** I can't get the song "Calling for a Flood" by John Waller out of my head... I think this will be my theme song for 2008.  If you haven't heard it, listen to it in the post before this one.

**I am excited to see what 2008 holds for Coast and for my family...  I am always an optimist when it comes to a new year...   I don't think this year will let me down.

**Thanks to all who have been praying for my Dad and Step Mom.  She is still recovering from a stroke and is in a rehab facility.  My Dad was admitted to the hospital on Friday with heart palpitations.  They did a stress test on him today and it turned out fine, and he will go home today... may even be home now.

**By the way, If a stress test was really what it sounded like...  and they were testing us for stress..  I think a lot of the people I know would fail...  You have to be sure and take a Sabbath and get some r and r...  That stands for rest and relaxation... but of course a little rock-n-roll might help too.  Crank up tunes and put a smile on your face.

**You know, the FSU - Kentucky game is a win/win for FSU fans.  If we lose, we just say, well how could we win, we were without 26 of our players?  And if we win, which I think we might, we will say, wow, we beat Kentucky and didn't even have half our team.  If I was a Kentucky Wildcat...  I would just call it a season.

**To all my friends and loved ones... be safe tomorrow and have a great New Years.

    Calling for a Flood

I am loving this right now...

    The Sunday Night wrap up

**Great day today at Coast!  The place felt packed which was kind of suprising to me.  Our congregation age is younger... so most of our people leave for the holidays... so we had a lot of people gone and it was still jamming.

**Gary and Beth and the worship team did an awesome job and the very first ever appearance of the Coast Choir was great... they absolutely knocked it out of the park.  Sherri Welch hit a home run on her song at the close as well.

**God was so good... after days of fever and congestion... and lots of coughing... I was able to preach and not cough once.  When I stepped off stage for Sherri's song, I just sat there and coughed... until it was time for me to close the service.  Right at the moment my voice sounds like I am going through puberty.

**The Choir is singing again tomorrow for our two Candlelight Communion Services.  One at 5:00 PM and one at 11:30 PM.

**I tend to be more rock-n-roll by nature... but man, I could listen to the Coast Choir all day long.

**Some really great things coming to Coast in 2008... I am very excited about the coming year.

**I am worn out...   in my comfy clothes, and kicking back with the family tonight.

    Clash of the Choirs

I don't know which makes me feel worse... first, that I would get sucked into a TV show called "Clash of the Choirs" or second, that I am in a state of shock that PattI LaBelle's choir lost to Team Lachey...  I had Team Lachey pegged to be the first team gone...  Team LaBelle had no equals in this competition.

I chalk this up to pre-teens voting.   I don't even know why I ever watch TV.

    Wow!

I was telling my wife Vicki how blown away I am by the people and the staff at Coast.  We really have such a great group of people who have stepped up to the plate to serve.  I called one of our staff members a little while ago and asked if they could do something for the church... now realize its only a couple of days to Christmas and everyone is busy, busy, busy.  Anyway I asked them to help me out on something and they cheerfully said, "Sure... whatever you need."  It wasn't, "OK, I guess I can... if you can't find someone else."

Nope... it was jump in and serve.  And that spirit is rampant and out of control in our church right now.  Isn't that great?  It is so amazing to me.  I love what I see happening... and it has me so excited about 2008.  A church of servants can turn the world upside down.  Look out World...  Coast is awakening... and God is smiling.

I need to wear my glasses more...

I was at Best Buy and I looked down and saw a DVD titled, "James Brolin: Godfather of Soul."  I did a double take and thought... that can't be right...  It wasn't.  Of course the Godfather of Soul is James Brown...  James Brolin is married to Barbara Streisand... so obviously not the Godfather of Soul.

    Christmas Party

Last night was a lot of fun for our Coast Christmas Party... the food was incredible... and the fellowship was the best... Thanks to Julie Arnold and her team for pulling off a great event for the Christmas season.  Great job!

Oh, and if you weren't there... anything you hear about me in a cape is patently untrue.

    New Office

Met a friend for lunch today and was overjoyed to see construction beginning on my new office.

New_starbucks Don't know if you can read the sign... it says, Brewing Soon... Starbucks.

This baby is close to the house...  Can you smell the coffee?

    I am a happy camper...

And to all those at the Gulf Breeze Proper Starbucks...  I will still visit...

I love that Starbuck's keeps expanding and growing.

New_starbucks_2 At this rate there will be a Starbuck's within walking range of everyone... unless you live in Anderson, SC

    Sorry Tony and Perry.
