The excitement is building!!

Man, I am so stoked I can hardly stand it!!!  One, I am loving Christmas this year...  I am ready for it!  Most years it takes me a little while to get in the Christmas spirit... not this year!

Second thing, I am excited about the new Christmas series we are doing called, "All I want for Christmas." I really believe this series is going to speak into the life of every person who walks through the doors at Coast.

I am pumped about some changes coming at Coast...  We are going to be doing some cool new things that will drastically improve the looks of our building and land from Hwy. 98.  Those changes are already in the works and will be happening over the next few months.

And then I am excited about the very special announcement we are going to make this week at Coast.  This is a biggie!  And I want to tell sooooooo bad.  Should I post it here?

Nope... you can read about it here next week... or you can join us on Sunday... but let me tell you... This is one that's going to make people shout... its very cool.

God is doing something special at Coast... and I'm loving every second of it.

(More to come)

Nice...

At the Hard Rock

Its great to be home... but we had a good trip down to see my Dad and Step Mom.  My Step Mother is recovering from a stroke.  We were able to spend time with her and pray for her... and we saw a dramatic improvement after praying for her.  Prayer works.

While we were in there in Orlando visiting my folks, we went to hear Rob Bell speak.  He was speaking at the Hard Rock Venue at the Hard Rock Cafe.  Here's Leanna and I at the Starbuck's in City Walk near the Hard Rock.

Since we were going to be at the Hard Rock, we went to see our friend, Jeff Nolan.

Robert_and_jeff_nolan Jeff is the resident Rock Historian at the Hard Rock.  This guy has a great job...  He loves Rock music history and gives the best tours.

Jeff plays a mean guitar himself, and played with Scott Weiland while Scott was between Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver.

The Hard Rock recently added a Jeff Nolan pin to their pin collection... Quite an honor.

We took a lot of pictures... there is so much cool stuff there... all sorts of amazing guitars including a rare Fender starcaster, and John Entwistle's EB-0 Gibson Bass... wow!  But be sure and take a look at the last picture...  I just love this guitar, it is a Gretsch White Falcon that was owned by Joe Perry of Aerosmith.

I would love to have a guitar like that.

I will blog more about hearing Rob Bell soon.

Hey... that's cool.

How Ironic is this?  A sign at the corner of Pooley and Church in Bagdad Florida.

Awesome day

Just a quick note...  Still in Orlando...  My Step Mom had a great day... Leanna and I heard Rob Bell speak... it was brilliant!

God was with us all day in everything we did... It was incredible day... Will write more extensively about this when I get back in town...

Quick note

Just a quick note... I am in Orlando visiting my Dad and seeing my Step-mom who is recovering from a stroke... Thanks for everyone who is praying...  She remembered my name... she was struggling remembering the kids names... and she was able to joke around some.  She still has a lot of trouble speaking and she can't move her right arm and has limited use of her right leg...but we believe with lots of prayers and lots of work, she will recover all of that.

Tonight Leanna and I are sneaking away to the Hard Rock Venue to hear Rob Bell on the
god's aren't angry tour."  Should be awesome!

Satan's Beattiitudes

This came from my friend David Kerr's blog... interesting stuff...

If the devil were to write his beatitudes they would probably go something like this:

* Blessed are they who are too tired and busy to go to church on Sundays and Wednesdays, for they are my best workers.

* Blessed are they who are bored with the minister’s mannerism and mistakes, for they get nothing out of his sermon.

* Blessed is the church member who expects to be invited to his own church, for he is part of the problem instead of the solution.

* Blessed are they who gossip, for they cause strife and divisions that please me.

* Blessed are they who are easily offended, for they soon get angry and quit.

* Blessed are they who do not give their tithes and offerings to carry on God’s work, for they are my best workers.

* Blessed are they who profess to love God, but hates his brother, for he shall be with me forever.

* Blessed are the trouble-makers, for they shall be called the children of Satan.

* Blessed are the complainers, for I am all ears to them .

Gotta love it.

Its just Thursday...

It was a very productive day... I knocked out two newsletters... got a huge jump on my Sunday message... announced our Christmas series, "All I want for Christmas" and had lunch with Roy Jones Jr.

Ok, we were just at the same restaurant, but I think he made eye contact with me... Ok, I was staring... but I had lunch with one of the best pound for pound boxers of all time.

That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

Changing Faces

My Friend Bobby Lepinay has a great blog.... on a recent post which you can read here he talks about how churches experience a turn over in members. It is very well written... and I really identify with what he says.

Thanks Bobby for eloquently writing what I think a lot of pastors feel. Well done buddy!
