Leanna, our daughter gave me this quote that her teacher, Mrs. Hines put on the board. She said it was something to ponder. I liked it.
"Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on when others have let go." William Feather
I loved this band... Say what you want... I don't care... I loved all their stuff... Even wish they were still touring... Rock on Whiteheart!
School is so different than when I was in school. Leanna is in 9th grade... which means the Pooley community are all experiencing 9th grade... and let me tell you... times have changed... and so has the learning process... I'm wondering will there be time to blog... or read blogs... or shave... or shower... or... well, you get the idea... Its a time of transition and adjustment... but so far all is good.
My biggest problem to this point is... with my daughter going to Gulf Breeze, and our family living in Gulf Breeze... and me having graduated from Milton... who do I pull for when Milton plays Gulf Breeze in football? This is a tough one.
Another thing... since 9th grade has become a community for the whole family... do we all get to go to prom? If so, I wonder can you still get powder blue tuxes? That would be groovy.
Did I mention that my new office is being built about five minutes from my house. They are calling it Starbucks... but we all know, its really going to be my office.
Spent the morning finishing up and putting the final touches on the message for tomorrow... We are in a series called "Grace Anatomy" and tomorrow we are talking about "Sustaining Grace." See God doesn't just want us to finish the race... He wants us to finish well! He wants us to have an amazing life... And His grace will sustain us along the way... I am really excited about tomorrow... Going to be a great day, and really looking forward to our special music... (You're going to love it!)
This afternoon we are doing an outreach at Swenson Park... We started doing outreaches there after Hurricane Ivan tore through the community. We are sponsoring a Family Night in the Park. We will have hot dogs, sno cones, Inflateables for the kids and lots of games... Should be a blast.
Then our family is going to spend a little time with our old youth director Tiffany, who is home from California and leaves to go back tomorrow. What a remarkable young lady...
So... if you are in the area, and not attending church... Why not join us for a great morning at Coast? I think you will be glad you did. See you there!
Went to MArble Slab with the Vicki and Leanna... Leanna had strawberry ice cream with cookie dough, oreos and pop rocks... Isn't that odd? Anyway it was great fun just hanging out.
Thanks to Fred McKinnon for this one... too funny.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference
Robert Frost
Thought this was pretty good...
Top Ten List for Life and Ministry Management
10. ACCOUNT FOR YOUR TIME
How did you spend your day? Write it as you go & evaluate how you did at the end of the day. Now look for ways to improve and ask yourself, “What am I going to do about this tomorrow?”
9. PLAN YOUR TIME OFFENSIVELY
Act like your time belongs to you! Learn to say no to the things you don’t need to do.
8. KEEP YOUR PRIORITIES IN ORDER
Remember if you don’t have priorities you can’t keep them.
7. DELEGATE TO THE FAITHFUL
What are you doing someone else can do? What is it, that only you can do?
6. PLAN FOR INTERRUPTIONS
When everything is said & done, there is more said than done. Things don’t always happen how you plan them
5. RESPOND RATHER THAN REACT TO A CRISIS.
There is more than one side to every story. I’ve found in church work there are about 36. Do your homework.
It’s okay to say, I’ll get back to you, I don’t know is a smart answer.
4. DON’T PROCRASTINATE
Do what you can do, don’t put it off.
3. GET SOME HELP
Make some calls, network, read a book, listen to a CD, get a mentor. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
2. PLAN FOR GROWTH
Remember people follow people with a plan.
Have a plan for spiritual growth, organizational growth, and numerical growth.
1. PRAY
Things happen when we pray that don’t happen any other way!
