    More IPhone

Guy Kawasaki talks about his feelings concerning the IPhone... Read it here.

    Haunting...

Sad, but moving...  follow this link.

    IPhones

The IPhones are out... and you better know I'm going to get one.  I consider myself an early adopter... so I will have my new IPhone by October of 2009.  Who knows... maybe they will have the bugs out by then.

    50's Party

We had a great time at our Fabulous 50's party tonight... there were quite a few poodle skirts... lots of rolled up blue jeans, pedal pushers, and even one leather jacket...  in Florida heat... that's commitment!  We had so much fun, and it was a great turn out... burgers, hot dogs, homemade icecream, root beer floats and more...  Hula hoops, yo yos, and all kinds of great music...   I loved the Chuck Berry.

Shout outs to Julie Arnold who coordinates our connection events... She knocked it out of the park...  Hopefully I can get some pictures up soon.  What a blast!  It was the cat's pajamas...  (Did they say that in the fifties?)

    Thoughts on a Wednesday

**Looking forward to going to our Fabulous 50's party tonight...  I'm not much of a costume guy... but it will be fun seeing everyone dressed up (Think Grease)  I'm hoping someone wears a poodle skirt... and I am also hoping its not a guy.

**So excited about Scott Welch coming on staff at Coast.  Tuesday was his first day... and he is going to be a huge blessing.

** Fellow bloggers Travis and Bob from South Florida had an interesting experience while coming home from a conference together.  They were passed by a monkey driving a car.  This is real.

Monkey I'm telling you... there are some very real differences between North Florida and South Florida.

    Nuff Said about that.

** Reggie McNeal in his book, Practicing Greatness, gives the following quote:"The need to be good at everything is idolatrous. Besides, not getting all the talent is one more way God builds into us our need for community."

** I love that the Word of God can seem so very different every time you read it.  Reading through Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians over the last few days has been awesome.  Its amazing how what you read seems different as you filter it through whatever is going on in your life at the moment.  Wonderful!

** Gulf Breeze just got its own Moe's...  Very cool... now, how about a Chik-fila?

**I'm reading the book "Under Cover: The Promise of Protection Under His Authority" by John Bevere.  It has been an amazing read...

**Ok, that was a quick break... I'm going back to work...  This Sunday, Part two of our Fuel Series and we are talking about pressures... and how that drains the fuel (energy) out of our lives.

    Evan Almighty

Spent the day off with the family, and we went to see Evan Almighty.  I really enjoyed it.  I think its really a great picture for every Christian to see.  I sat in the movie thinking, "Just be faithful to what God says, and its going to be alright.  Evan... just obey God... don't look at the circumstances... its going to be ok."  Isn't so easy to say that at a movie... but what about in our life?   Its the same principle...  just do what God says... don't look at the circumstances... Trust God, and obey Him, and everything is going to be good.   Great lesson!  With quite a few laughs thrown in for good measure.

    American Eagle

American_eagle When I was a young guy I wanted to be a Rock star.

My nephew wants to be a pro wrestler... and he has trained and is starting his career.  Will he make it?  Maybe.

He's wrestling tomorrow night in Milton.  I got to tell you... I love this kid... He's got such a great heart.

I believe that God uses us in very unique ways...  Its going to be fun to watch how this plays out.

You go Jon... er, Eagle!  Take it to em!

    Want to be inspired?

Want to be reminded that you are capable of great things?  Go here and look at this post from Tony McCollum.  Have a tissue nearby...

    From this week's newsletter

A few ramblings on a Thursday...

** The Fabulous Fifties party is going to be so much fun.  Get out your best hoop skirt or Fonzie outfit and lets party!  Even if you don't normally come out to these kind of things, you want to come to this one... its going to be a great time to hang out and make new friends.
Wednesday, 6 PM out back of the church.  We provide hot dogs and burgers and fixings.  You bring chips, something to drink, lawn chairs... and if you want... your home made ice cream makers...  Yum!
** Be watching next week for upcoming dates for our Embrace, Engage, and Elevate classes... These are the classes that take your through membership, maturity, and managing and maximizing your gifts.  Also be watching for info on our Newcomer's dessert!
**I enjoyed going with my family to see the new fantastic four movie, "Rise of the Silver Surfer."  I thought it was about some of our gray haired guys who get on their boards out in the Gulf.  Boy was I surprised.  Great message on the importance of mission to keep a team together.
**We will be introducing you soon to our newest staff member Scot Welch.  He will be working in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Scot is awesome and is going to be a great asset to the church...  Just don't talk to him about Star Trek... unless of course you have lots of free time.    He starts Tuesday, June 26th.
**I am so proud of our teams that have been in China and Africa.  It is our goal that everyone goes at least once in their life on a short term mission's trip.  It will change your life!
**If I don't say it enough... I really appreciate and respect the people who volunteer in ministry at Coast!  You guys rock!  When I see the attitude and heart that each of you have, I am blown away.  You truly understand the mission.   What we do at Coast is important!  Lives are hanging in the balance... and people are being impacted each and every week.  Children are hearing the word of God and God is laying a foundation in their heart that will be there forever!  Marriages have been and are being restored... People are being set free from things that bind them up... the bible tells us where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  Those of you haven't found a place to share your gifts and talents... let us know... We will help you find just the right spot... It will change your life.
** At Coast, we want to help you find Christ...   find a friend... and find a job. (a place where you can use your gifts and talents.
** This weekend is going to be amazing as we talk about passion... its going to get you fired up!

    Daughter's

I don't know how many of you have daughters.  We have one, Leanna who just turned 15. We told her she could date when she is 16.  Bob Franquiz has a great tool on his blog for fathers of daughters.  Its an application for dads to give boys who are interested in dating your daughter.  I think I will use it.  Download daughter_app1.pdf  Actually, I KNOW I will use it.  Thanks Bob!
